受疫情影響，自3月16日起，大紐約地區學校陸續關閉，孩子們在家，除了上網課外，各種活動受到限制。如何幫助孩子們度過這個非常時期的枯燥生活，讓家長們十分操心。惠言先生在徵得參與創作者和組織者同意後，主動向我們編輯部提議，把他正在籌划出版的《惠言童話》18篇繪畫本稿子贈給我們網站連載，可以讓孩子們在網上看到和聽到這些故事，有助於提高他們的中文閱讀和聽力水平。
故事文稿是基於惠言先生前幾年在《世界日報》上發表的故事修改的，中美兩地34個孩子們參加了插畫稿創作，上海五里橋文化中心張煒瑋主任組織「音之魅」誦讀沙龍的語言藝術家們創作了9個朗誦作品。希望這些生動有趣的故事、童趣洋溢的圖畫和美妙的朗誦藝術作品，能伴隨孩子們度過新冠疫情這個困難時期。對此，我們向惠言先生；英文稿的校閱者Jason Kenny先生和趙蒙皓女士；上海五里橋文化中心及「音之魅」誦讀沙龍語言藝術家們；參與畫稿創作的孩子們及其家長表示衷心感謝！

一隻海豚從印度洋來到紅海，找不到合適的漁場，肚子餓了，到海岸邊來覓食。海豚看到一隻大腹便便的海龜在岸邊游弋，就向海龜問路：「漁場在哪裡？」海龜見來了一個陌生客，便告訴海豚：「在紅海深處，比較遠，大約有五十海里，我平日就住在那裡。」
A dolphin came to the Red Sea from the Indian Ocean. He couldn’t find a school of fish. He was hungry and went to the coast looking for food. The dolphin spied a sea turtle with a big belly swimming along the shore. He asked the turtle, “Do you happen to know a place where there are lots of fish?” “It is faraway in the center of the Red Sea, about fifty nautical miles out, I live there.” The turtle realized that the dolphin was a stranger, and happily gave him the information.
海豚笑著說：「那點路不算遠，我游的快，個把小時就到。」海龜把去往那裡的路線一五一十地告訴海豚，海豚聽後，有點暈頭轉向，於是求海龜：「我初來乍到，不了解地形。能否幫忙帶個路？」海龜遲疑了一下，點頭同意為海豚帶路。
The dolphin chuckled, “Not that far for me. I can get there in only an hour.” The turtle attempted to tell the dolphin the exact route turn by turn, but the dolphin was very confused, so he asked the turtle, “I am new here and don’t know the area. Can you please help me to find the way?” Reluctantly, the turtle agreed.
海龜鼓著大肚在前面游，海豚在後面跟。海豚發現海龜游得慢，便說：「按這個速度，天黑也到不了。我馱著你走，好不好？」海龜看日頭偏西，答道：「好吧，試試看。」
The turtle began to lead the way towards the place with lots of fish. But the turtle was very slow. After a while, the dolphin proposed, “At this speed, we will not be there before dark. Shall I carry you on my back? ” Looking at the sun sinking low in the sky, the turtle answered, “Okay, let』s try it.”
於是海龜爬到海豚背部，用四肢緊緊抱著海豚，但是海豚一加速度，海龜就從海豚身上滑下來。海豚靈機一動，想出個辦法：「你身體上下有厚厚的甲板，我用嘴咬著你走，傷不著你。」海龜聽後就說：「你牙齒雖小但是很尖，別咬得太重。」 海豚說：「沒問題。」
The turtle climbed onto the dolphin’s back and held on as tight as she could, but the moment the dolphin began to speed up, the turtle slid off. The dolphin thought about it for a while, and came up with a solution: “Your shell is very thick.” The dolphin said. “It is so thick, that if I carried you in my mouth, I wouldn』t hurt you.” When the turtle heard this, she said, “Ok, your teeth are small but sharp, please be careful with me.” “No problem,” replied the dolphin.
海豚張嘴銜住海龜，按照海龜指引的路線加速前進，一個多小時後，來到一個地方。夕陽映照下，海底珊瑚礁奇形怪狀，色彩艷麗，水草豐滿，魚群眾多，果然是個好漁場。
The dolphin opened his mouth and held the turtle. He sped along the route with the guidance of the turtle. About an hour later, they came to the place with lots of fish. In the last fading rays of sun, the coral on the sea floor shimmered with a myriad of beautiful colors. Hundreds of fish were resting in the coral or swimming near the surface of the water. It was really a good living place for dolphin.
海龜見海豚喜歡此地，便說：「我的任務完成了，現在要回到岸邊。」 海豚不解地問：「這是你常住的地方，為什麼來了就走呢？」海龜回答：「不瞞你說，我方才是在物色下蛋的沙灘。看你人生地不熟，怕你找不到地方，肚子餓得慌，先把你帶來。現在任務完成，我要回到岸邊。」
When they got there, the turtle said, “My mission is complete. Now I have to go back to the shore.” The dolphin asked in confusion, “This is the place where you live. Why do you wish to leave when you only just got back?” “To tell you the truth, I was looking for the beach where I would lay my eggs when I met you.”, the turtle replied. “Seeing that you were not familiar with this place, I was afraid that you would go hungry, so I brought you here first. Now that you are here, I will return to the shore.”
海豚為海龜的好心腸所感動，趕緊說：「我把你送回去。」海龜說：「你餓了，快用餐吧，我自己游回去。」 海豚堅持說：「這段路，你自己游要大半天。我怕天黑後，你找不到合適地方，耽誤產卵。」
The dolphin was moved by the turtle’s kindness, so he told the turtle, “I’ll bring you back.” The turtle refused, “You are hungry, so go ahead and eat. I can swim back on my own.” The dolphin insisted, “You’ll swim for more than a day if you go alone. I’m afraid that after dark, you won’t find the right place to lay eggs.”
海豚知道海龜肚子里有蛋，小心翼翼地把海龜含在嘴裡，在天黑前把海龜送回岸邊。
The turtle agreed, so the dolphin carefully picked up the turtle in his mouth and set off towards the shore.
海豚幫海龜找到合適的產卵地，夜幕已經降臨，看著海龜爬上沙灘挖坑，海豚這才藉助月光，全速趕往漁場。
When they got there, the dolphin helped the turtle find the right place to lay her eggs. There, the dolphin watched as the turtle climbed the beach and dug pits in the sand. Satisfied that the turtle was settled safely, the dolphin rushed back to the place with lots of fish under the full moon.

惠言（實名：諸惠昌）
退休水處理專業工程師，退休後撰寫《惠言童話故事》和生活雜記。1946年生於中國浙江省慈溪市，1950年後在上海完成小學和中學。1968年9月畢業於北京清華大學土建系給排水專業。1994年3月在美國猶他州立大學獲土木和環境工程碩士學位。長期從事水處理領域科學研究、工程設計和項目管理。
趙蒙皓
資深跨國教育及文化諮詢師。曾在紐約市舉世聞名的K-12年制道爾頓學校(The Dalton School)任教多年，並曾任美國名校紐約大學（NYU）的客座教授。上海外國語學院，對外漢語系肄業；美國明德大學（Middlebury College），經濟學及日本文學文學雙學士；美國馬里蘭大學商學院（University of Maryland）工商管理碩士。
虞欣燦
女，時年9歲，在慈溪市觀海衛鎮文棋小學讀書，二年級。這是第一次參與《海豚與海龜》九幅插畫創作，很開心。繪畫指導：「我繪藝術教育」邵玲老師。
馮佳欣
女，時年11歲。出生於浙江省慈溪市觀海衛鎮，現就讀於文棋小學四（5）班。喜歡畫畫、跳舞、唱歌還有看書。繪畫指導：「我繪藝術教育」邵玲老師。

上海五里橋音之魅誦讀藝術團團員。

英文名：Scarlett Shi Shu，女，9歲，小學4年級學生。愛好音樂、舞蹈、體育。
