1.諾貝爾獎得主，腦科學泰斗 Eric Kandel 博士
埃里克·坎德爾，猶太裔神經科學家。1929 年 11 月 7 日出生於奧地利維也納，二戰期間為逃離納粹迫害而隨家人移居美國。本科畢業於哈佛大學，並在紐約大學獲得醫學博士學位，後任教於哥倫比亞大學。他一生效力於神經科學領域的前沿研究，因為在記憶儲存的神經機制研究中所做出的重大貢獻，於 2000 年獲得諾貝爾生理學或醫學獎。其自傳《追尋記憶的痕迹》，曾榮獲 2006 年度《洛杉磯時報》圖書獎科技類最佳作品和 2007 年度美國國家學院知識傳播獎最佳圖書。
2.領導世界 AIDS 病治療的 David D. Ho 何大一博士（美國兩院院士）
何大一，1952 年 9 月 3 日出生於中國台灣台中市，美國國家醫學院院士、美國藝術與科學院院士、中國工程院外籍院士，美國艾倫戴蒙德艾滋病研究中心創立者、主任，美國洛克菲勒大學愛琳戴蒙德教授。
1970 年何大一考入美國麻省理工學院；1974 年大學畢業後考入哈佛大學醫學院，先後獲得碩士、博士學位；1978 年獲得博士學位後進入 Cedars-Sinai 醫學中心進行內科臨床實踐；1982 年進入馬薩諸塞州綜合醫院、哈佛大學醫學院，進行傳染病學的臨床實踐；1996 年被美國《時代》周刊評選為年度風雲人物；1997 年新余市人民政府授予何大一榮譽市民；2001 年美國時任總統柯林頓向他頒發了「總統國民勳章」；2003 年當選中國工程院外籍院士；2007 年出任香港大學艾滋病研究所榮譽所長及科學督導委員會主任 [4] ；同年，清華大學艾滋病綜合研究中心成立，何大一出任中心主任；2008 年獲得香港大學名譽科學博士；2015 年獲頒影響世界華人大獎。
何大一主要研究免疫學、微生物學和傳染病學，1981 年在洛杉磯 Cedars-Sinai 醫學中心當見習醫生時接觸到了最早發現的一批艾滋病病例；發明雞尾酒療法治療艾滋病，發現 CD8 可以有效對抗艾滋病毒。
3.世界著名 STEM Cell 研究科學家、耶魯大學林海帆博士 （美國兩院院士）
林海帆，美籍華裔生物學家。2018 年當選為美國文理科學院院士，美國國家科學院院士。1982 年獲復旦大學生物化學專業學士學位。1990 年獲康奈爾大學基因與發育學專業博士學位。1990 年至 1994 年，在美國卡內基研究所從事博士後研究，1994 年至2006 年在杜克大學醫學院任教。2006 年至今任耶魯大學醫學院細胞生物學系教授、遺傳系教授、婦產科系教授，幹細胞中心創始主任。 2013 年 7 月起兼任上海科技大學免疫化學研究所教授。2014 年 3 月起兼任上海科技大學生命科學與技術學院院長。
4.百度總裁張亞勤博士（美國文理科學院院士）
張亞勤博士 2014 年 9 月加盟百度公司，擔任總裁。出任百度總裁前，張亞勤博士曾在微軟公司工作 16 年，歷任全球資深副總裁兼微軟亞太研發集團主席、微軟亞洲研究院院長兼首席科學家、微軟中國董事長、和微軟移動全球副總裁。加盟微軟之前，他曾在美國 Sarnoff 公司任多媒體實驗室主任（1994-1998）和 GTE （Verizon）實驗室高級研究員（1990-1993）。
張亞勤博士是數字視頻和人工智慧領域的世界級科學家和企業家，擁有 60 多項美國專利，發表 500 多篇學術論文，並出版 11 本專著。他發明的多項圖像視頻壓縮和傳輸技術被國際標準採用，廣泛地應用於高清電視、互聯網視頻、多媒體檢索、移動視頻、和圖像資料庫領域。他是世界經濟論壇達沃斯「未來交通指導委員會」唯一來自中國的委員，並擔任全球最大技術開放平台 Apollo 聯盟理事長。他也是聯合國計劃發展總署（UNDP）企業董事會董事。
張亞勤博士在國際上獲得過諸多專業獎項和榮譽，2019 年當選美國藝術與科學院院士，是當年度工程學和計算機科學當選的唯一的華人科學家；2017 年榮膺澳洲國家工程院（ATSE）院士，也是該年度授予的唯一外籍院士；1997 年他被授予 IEEE 院士，成為歷史上獲得這一榮譽最年輕的科學家。張博士是香港科技大學名譽院士，他同時在十餘所世界頂尖高校擔任校董、榮譽或客座教授，並在 5 家高科技公司擔任董事。

ii）領導能力的證明材料。
iii）能夠證明對科學和工程、以及技術與社會之間的關係表現出強烈的興趣。
iv）能夠證明在課外活動和社區服務方面表現出色。

b）學術成績：高中成績單（2019年春季學期結束前的成績單，應顯示所有課程和成績，GPA綜合得分。另外，請列出你參加2019年秋季學期的課程，以及完成的AP的課程名稱和考試成績（如果有的話）。
c）證書/獎勵和/或課外活動和社區服務的項目報告（PPT文件，不超過15張幻燈片，或word文件，300-500個單詞，描述項目，意義，你的角色以及對你職業生涯的影響）。
d）兩封推薦信：一封是申請人所在學校的教師或輔導員的推薦信；另封是申請人的課外項目顧問或社區服務負責人的推薦信。

所有申請材料（在線申請表，兩個在線推薦信和佐證材料）必須在2019年9月23日（星期一）上午9:00（當地時間）送達2019年YEA審查委員會。

CAST-USA 2019 Young Elite Award (YEA) Competition
The Young Elite Award (YEA) is one of the flagship programs of CAST-USA Education. The YEA is designed to encourage the younger generation of ethnic Chinese to achieve high academic performance and global leadership, to develop a strong interest in science and engineering and excel in extracurricular activities and community service. The aim of the CAST-USA YEA program is to help prepare the younger generation to be globally minded leaders in this very competitive world, and to achieve the greatest positive impact on our society.
Eligibility:
Specific Requirements:
i) High academic performance, demonstrated not only by GPA, but also by taking AP courses, honors curriculum or research projects, etc.
ii) Demonstrated Leadership skills.
iii) Demonstrated strong interests in science & engineering, and the relationship between technology and society.
iv) Demonstrated dedication in extracurricular activities & community service.
Honorable Mention: 10-20 (YEA Certificate)

b) Academic Records: High School Transcript (The transcript should show all coursework and grades, and the overall GPA up to the end of the spring semester 2019. In addition, please list the courses you are taking in the Fall semester 2019, and the name and test score (if available) of the completed AP courses or college coursework.
c) Certificates/ awards, and/or project report (as a power point file, no more than 15 slides, or as a word file, 300-500 words, describe the project, significance, your role, and the impact on your career development) of Extracurricular Activities and Community Services.
d) TWO recommendation letters: ONE is from the Applicant』s school teacher or Guidance counselor; the other is from the Applicant』s extracurricular project adviser or community service leader. The Applicant should forward the link of the online Recommendation Form

Columbia University International House, 500 Riverside Drive, New York, NY 10027 The YEA Finalists are invited to attend the 2019 CAST-USA Annual Convention, and participate in the special STEM education session at the Convention to meet with World-Class Scientists and Tech company leaders for a face-to-face discussion on career development. Each of the YEA Finalists will receive a YEA Certificate, two-years free membership of CAST-USA, and a free Registration of the CAST-USA Annual Convention on 10/05/2019, and a free ticket to the Award Banquet.
Each YEA award winner will also receive a check of $300 at the award ceremony. Failure to be present at the Convention will lose the monetary Award, but still receive the YEA Certificate.
The parents are required to sign a consent form to allow YEA Finalist』s name and photograph to be published in the Convention Proceedings and posted at the 2019 CAST-USA Annual Convention webpage.
